The Edition was launched in 2009, the 400th anniversary of the composer's death. An international Festival in Venice in May 2009, concurrently with the 18th International Academy of Sacred Music, celebrated the life and work of Giovanni Croce, with concerts and church services, including liturgical performances of Croce's Requiem I in the Basilica di San Marco and of his four-choir Missa super Jubilate Deo in S. Maria Formosa.
