Vol.II - Messe a 8 voci

hard cover - Catalogue number: CQE4002 - ISMN: M-2056-4002-6
Parody masses are less frequently found in Venetian than in Roman circles, yet here Croce provides three such masses, for double-choir. The Saul and Battle masses might both have been composed for the annual commemoration of a Venetian victory such as Lepanto, while the Decantabat mass is less programmatic.
The Saul and Decantabat masses are both on motets by Croce himself. The Battle mass uses Janequin's famous composition as a model.
The edition presents, we believe for the first time, all three double-choir masses complete with the 'Partidura', a continuo or director's short score published contemporaneously with the partbooks.
