Volume I contains a completely new biography of Giovanni Croce by Martin Morell which, drawing on his own original researches and on the work of Dr Laura Davey (see References) draws together all the available information about the composer's life and work; his long career, spanning almost 40 years as choirboy and singing man, vice-maestro and ultimately maestro di cappella at San marco, his position and duties as a priest at S. Maria Formosa, and his many distinguished patrons. A summary will appear here shortly.
